Qualitative guidelines for mechanisms of youth engagement

A comprehensive guide designed to help policymakers and organizations implement, improve, and compare eight different mechanisms for meaningful youth participation.

This publication outlines eight distinct youth engagement models: Youth Councils, Youth Parliaments, Youth Advisory Boards/Panels, Youth Co-management Bodies, Youth Delegates/Ambassadors, Youth Granting, Youth Ad-hoc Meetings, and Consultative Mechanisms. It grounds these practices in theoretical frameworks such as the Lundy Model (focusing on Space, Voice, Audience, and Influence) and the RMSOS framework (Rights, Means, Space, Opportunity, and Support) to move participation beyond symbolic "tokenism" toward systematic institutional practice.
