Maria brings their experience in deliberative processes and citizen participation in policymaking to the development of resources and best practices at People Powered. They have previously worked on supporting citizens’ juries and legislative theater, with a particular focus on climate policy and just transition. Maria is passionate about inclusion and bringing young people and other marginalized voices into policymaking.
Maria was raised in Singapore and emigrated to the UK in 2016, earning a master’s degree in ecology and conservation from Lancaster University. Appreciative of the opportunity for a wide-ranging education, Maria values interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving for a just, equitable and sustainable future. In their free time, when they are not clumsily attempting to learn to code, they enjoy writing, video games and sketching.
