The Democracy Stories Lab is now open — apply by September 14

Last month, we announced the Democracy Stories Lab — an open call for creators to share visual stories about what the future looks like when people have a real say in the decisions that shape their lives. Today, applications are officially open.

We're looking for short videos, illustrations, and graphics that tell a different kind of story about democracy — not about decline and distrust, but about voice, power, belonging, and what happens when ordinary people hold real power over the decisions that shape their futures. Stories that are imaginative, human, and made to travel.

This call is open to individual creators and small teams anywhere in the world. Your content can be original or already published, as long as it's yours and it engages with one of five narrative frameworks from the Democracy Narratives Alliance's research on "How to Talk About Democracy.""

Awards: Four winners receive $1,000 each. Five honorable mentions receive $500 each. Winners also receive amplification across the People Powered and DNA networks and a place in a global screening event.

Deadline: September 14, 2026
