The theme for the 2026 convening is Global Challenges, Participatory Solutions. The program is designed to empower you with the skills, knowledge, and connections you need to advance participatory democracy in your community, organization, and globally.
This year’s program combines practical training sessions, collaborative workshops, and engaging site visits, creating an engaging space for learning and exchange, and for co-developing shared global resources and programs.
March 2: Site visits to local participatory programs and cultural experiences
See participatory democracy in action and learn from local experiences, through guided visits to programs in Nairobi, followed by a fun reception. Stay tuned for more details!
March 3: Workshops and discussions
Join parallel sessions to build relationships, exchange ideas, and develop shared resources and programs to address common challenges. Topics include:
How to advocate and work for inclusive democracy despite sociopolitical challenges.
Practical strategies and tactics to implement inclusive participatory programs and overcome challenges.
Focused discussions on the current state of democracy narratives, and how to talk about democracy to increase support for it
March 4: Workshops, discussions & Networking
Planned topics include: mapping and winning funding opportunities for participatory programs. More topics to be announced soon.
March 5: People Powered strategic planning (members-only)
People Powered members will participate in strategic planning sessions to shape our shared priorities for the next few years.
