Ellen Haustein, Co-Treasurer

Ellen is a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Rostock, Germany. From 2019 – 2021, she coordinated and contributed to the EU-funded project “Empowering Participatory Budgeting in the Baltic Sea Region” (EmPaci). In this project, participatory budgeting is being developed and implemented in nine municipalities in six countries (Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Russia). Together with the partners, Ellen develops guidance on how PB can be implemented and capacities in local governments can be built.

Besides teaching accounting and management control, she researches public sector accounting, specifically citizen-centered and non-financial reporting. In this context, she also coordinated the EU-funded project “Developing and implementing European Public Sector Accounting modules” (DiEPSAm).

Ellen studied economics and international business and economics in Germany, Mexico and the United States and obtained her doctoral degree in management accounting at University of the West of England in Bristol.
