How Taiwan's 'civic hackers' helped find a new way to run the country

An article on the use of the digital participation platform Polis in Taiwan to build consensus on hot-button political issues.

Following the Sunflower movement in Taiwan, many of the members of civic hacker group g0v joined the government, setting up an online consultation space called vTaiwan in an effort to build consensus on divisive political problems.

vTaiwan used a platform called Polis to map points of agreement and dissent as people expressed their views, which resulted in actionable solutions and legislation in Taiwan.
