Legislative Theatre report: TONYC

A report that explains how Theatre of the Oppressed practices have been applied to raise awareness of pertinent issues of oppression, shift the minds of policymakers, and engage audience members in civic action.

Legislative Theatre is a creative, participatory policy-making process, that originated in Brazil around 1990 and has been practiced in New York City since 2013. This report chronicles 5 years of practice in New York City, including the history of the methodology; themes and stories in the plays; govt and other policy-makers who participated; policy proposals and outcomes from various events; and testimonials from govt, advocacy groups, and community members.
