Local citizens' assemblies in England

This video follows the story of three participants in three local citizens' assemblies that took place during 2019 in England, showing the process and impact of citizens' assemblies through participants' eyes.

The three citizens' assemblies were part of the Innovation in Democracy Programme, which was funded and run by the Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

The programme supported Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Test Valley Borough Council and the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) to involve residents in decision-making through citizens’ assemblies.

Involve led a team of delivery partners - with The Democratic Society, the RSA and mySociety - to support the local authorities to plan, design and run their citizens' assemblies.
