Transnational solidarity for social change: People Powered

In the midst of global democratic crises, civil society organizations play a critical role in promoting democratic processes and advancing social change, yet don’t always center democratic, decolonizing principles and practice in their own operations. This analysis uses People Powered as an example to show civil society organizations can do so.

The authors focus on the creation of People Powered and its first year of practice. Drawing upon decolonial frameworks—and based on their own experiences as founding members of People Powered —they identify concrete practices through which the organization enacts epistemic justice, shifts power, and emphasizes relationality.
